6. Produce a plan for sales
Often people think if they plan their marketing then sales will follow – this isn’t always the case! You need to plan for sales, sales planning is crucial to your business survival as your sales will generate the income that will help to keep your doors open!
Depending on the nature of your social enterprise i.e. retail, manufacturing, service – your sales plan will differ! How many sales do you need to make each month? How many sales can you realistically expect to make? In what markets? Who will you target first?
For example, if you are selling stationery, will you target retail shops first or purchasing managers of medium to large businesses? Do you have the capacity to meet big orders? It should be clear that all the logistical variables applicable to your business, as well as factors relating to your product/service and your potential markets, will impact upon your sales plan.
